Toys & Props – What does Blindfold mean?
Blindfold
A blindfold is a cover over the eyes that takes away sight, heightening every other sense and adding suspense, trust and surprise to sex or a scene.
What does Blindfold mean?
Blindfold comes from an older English verb, “blindfell”, meaning to strike blind, which later shifted toward “fold” as in a folded cloth. A blindfold removes sight to heighten every other sensation, simple and effective. Without sight, every touch, kiss or whisper becomes a surprise. It’s one of the easiest ways into sensation play, and a scarf, sleep mask or tie works just as well as a dedicated one.
How do you use a blindfold during sex?
Put it on gently, check that it doesn’t press on the eyes, and give your partner a moment to settle in. Then slow down. Alternate touch, kisses, warm breath, a feather or something cold, and leave pauses so every sensation lands. Keep talking a little, since your voice helps your partner feel safe.
Is a blindfold safe?
Yes, it’s one of the safest props there is. Avoid pressure on the eyes, don’t walk a blindfolded partner around without guiding them, and agree on a safe word, since many people feel more vulnerable than expected. If they want it off, it comes off right away. Not sure your partner is into it? Blindfold only shows up as a match in the Consent Check if you both said yes.
