Kinks & Fetishes – What does Nudism mean?
Nudism
Nudism is being naked together casually, at home, on the beach or in naturist spaces, where the focus is comfort and body acceptance rather than sex or performance.
What does Nudism mean?
Nudism comes from the Latin “nudus”, meaning naked. It means being naked casually, alone or with others, at home, on the beach or in naturist spaces, with comfort over performance. Naturism is the more common name for the organized movement, which grew strongly in Germany in the early 20th century as FKK. For couples, it can simply mean cooking, reading or lazing around together without clothes.
Is nudism sexual?
Not in itself. Naturist culture is explicitly non-sexual, and sexual behavior, staring or taking photos of others has no place in naturist spaces. At home it’s different. Being naked together can make you feel closer, more relaxed about your bodies and sometimes more in the mood, but it doesn’t have to lead anywhere. That’s the point.
How do you start with nudism as a couple?
Start at home, on a lazy Sunday with the heating up and nothing planned. If that feels good, try a designated naturist beach, sauna or campsite, where nudity is normal and the rules are clear. Public nudity outside those places is restricted in many countries, so stick to marked areas. Not sure your partner is into it? Nudism only shows up as a match in the Consent Check if you both said yes.
