Sex Positions – What does Pile Driver mean?
Pile Driver
The Pile Driver is an acrobatic sex position where the receiving partner rests on their upper back with their hips lifted high above their head, while the other partner squats over them.
What does Pile Driver mean?
The Pile Driver is named after the construction machine that hammers posts into the ground from above, and a wrestling move carries the same name. The receiving partner rests on their shoulders and upper back with hips raised high and legs over their head, and the other partner squats or stands over them. Honestly, it’s mostly a porn position. It looks dramatic on camera, but in real life it’s hard work and uncomfortable for most people. A variant where the top partner squats over the raised hips is called the Butter Churner.
Is the pile driver position safe?
Not very. It puts a lot of weight and strain on the neck and upper spine of the partner underneath. Skip it completely if either of you has neck or back problems. If you try it, keep weight off the neck with a firm pillow under the shoulders, keep the top partner’s weight on their own legs, go slow and keep it very short. Stop at any neck pain, tingling or dizziness.
What are easier alternatives to the pile driver?
Legs on shoulders gives a similar deep angle while the receiving partner lies flat on their back, with no weight on the neck. The butterfly at the edge of the bed, or a pillow under the hips in missionary, also tilts the pelvis upward. You get most of the depth with a fraction of the strain.
