Kinks & Fetishes – What does Reward & Punishment mean?
Reward & Punishment
Reward & Punishment is a D/s practice where a dominant partner responds to a submissive’s behaviour with agreed rewards for obedience and agreed punishments for broken rules.
What does Reward & Punishment mean?
Reward & Punishment borrows the language of behavioural training and is a core element of D/s dynamics in BDSM. It means positive or negative responses tied to a submissive’s behaviour, like praise or an orgasm for good behaviour and a spanking or writing lines for breaking a rule. Everything is part of an agreed game. Rules, rewards and punishments are negotiated beforehand, and the submissive chose to play by them.
What’s the difference between punishment and funishment?
Funishment is a “punishment” both partners actually enjoy, like a spanking the sub secretly wanted. Real punishment in D/s is meant to feel unwelcome, for example a time-out, writing lines or losing a privilege, while staying within agreed limits. Never punish while truly angry, and never use real-life things like affection, money or basic needs as punishment, because that crosses from play into control.
How do you set up reward and punishment?
Start with a few clear, simple rules and agree on what earns a reward and what earns a consequence. Rewards can be praise, a favourite activity or permission to come. Punishments should be proportionate, agreed in advance and over quickly, followed by closeness. Review the system together regularly. Not sure your partner is into it? Reward & Punishment only shows up as a match in the Consent Check if you both said yes.
