BDSM Roles – What does Prey mean?
Prey
Prey is the partner who gets chased, caught and overpowered in primal play, often enjoying the struggle, the escape attempts and the thrill of being captured.
What does Prey mean?
Prey is plain English for an animal that is hunted, and the primal play community uses it for the role opposite the hunter. Prey is the one being chased in primal play. Good prey doesn’t just wait to be caught. They run, hide, struggle and fight back, which makes the capture feel earned. For many, the rush comes from real adrenaline in a setting that is completely safe.
Why do people like being prey?
Being chased triggers a real adrenaline rush, and in a safe setting that fear turns into excitement. Many enjoy the struggle, the feeling of being wanted so much that someone hunts you, and the release of finally being overpowered. It lets you be wild and instinctive instead of polite and controlled. Afterwards, lots of prey crave cuddles and calm.
How do you start primal play as prey?
Talk first. Agree on how rough the chase can get, which body areas are off limits and a safe word or tap-out that always ends the game. Begin with a playful chase at home and some wrestling, then build up. Fighting back is part of it, so agree on how much is okay. Plan aftercare for both of you, because the adrenaline crash can hit hard.
