Group Play – What does Cuddle Party mean?
Cuddle Party
A Cuddle Party is a structured, non-sexual event where adults stay clothed, practise asking for touch and enjoy cuddling, with clear rules that make saying no easy.
What does Cuddle Party mean?
Cuddle Party started as a workshop format in New York in the mid-2000s, and the name spread from there. It’s a structured, non-sexual event where adults stay clothed, practise asking for touch and enjoy cuddling. A facilitator usually opens with the rules and a few warm-up exercises, then the group moves on to free cuddling on mats and cushions. Comfy clothes or pyjamas are standard, and sex is off the table.
What are the rules at a cuddle party?
Clothes stay on, and you ask before you touch anyone, every time. A “no” is welcomed, not just accepted, and nobody has to explain it. You can change your mind at any point, and it’s fine to just watch or rest. Nothing sexual happens. If someone gets aroused, that’s okay, as long as nobody acts on it.
Who are cuddle parties for?
They’re for anyone who misses safe, friendly touch. Touch-starved people, singles, people after a breakup and anyone who finds it hard to say no or to ask for what they want get a lot out of them. Practising consent with low stakes, a hug instead of sex, makes it easier to use the same skills in dating and in bed.
