Kink Talk – What are erogenous zones?
Erogenous Zones
Erogenous zones are areas of the body that are especially sensitive to arousing touch, from the obvious ones like the genitals to places like the neck, ears and inner thighs.
What are erogenous zones?
Erogenous comes from the Greek “eros”, love or desire, plus “-genous”, meaning producing, so it literally means “producing desire”. Erogenous zones are body areas that are especially sensitive to arousing touch. Some are rich in nerve endings, others are sensitive because they’re rarely touched or tied to good memories. That’s why a kiss on the neck can do more for one person than for another.
What are the most common erogenous zones?
Beyond the genitals, the classics are the neck, ears, lips, nipples, inner thighs, lower back and the backs of the knees. Scalp, wrists, feet and the perineum make many lists too. But every body is different. A spot that melts one person can tickle or annoy another, and what works can change with mood and arousal, so treat any list as a starting point, not a rulebook.
How do you find your erogenous zones?
Explore slowly and with curiosity, on your own or together with a partner. A good way is body mapping: take turns touching different areas with varying pressure, from feather light to firm, while the other person says what feels good, neutral or not okay. Leave the genitals out at first. You’ll often discover spots neither of you expected.
