Kinks & Fetishes – What does Body Mapping mean?
Body Mapping
Body mapping is slowly exploring every part of a partner’s body to discover where and how they like to be touched, including spots neither of you knew about.
What does Body Mapping mean?
Body Mapping is a term used in sex education and intimacy coaching, borrowing the idea of drawing a map. It means slowly exploring every part of a partner’s body to find out where and how they respond, including uncharted territory. The point is discovery, not orgasm. Usually one partner lies back while the other tries different kinds of touch, light, firm, warm or cool, and the receiver says how each one feels.
How do you do body mapping?
Set aside unhurried time, agree that it’s about exploring rather than sex, and decide who gives and who receives first. Work slowly from head to toe and try a few types of touch on each area. The receiver rates them out loud, for example on a scale from one to ten or with a simple yes, maybe or no. Swap roles next time and compare notes afterwards.
Why is body mapping worth trying?
It often turns up surprising hot spots, like the backs of the knees, the scalp or the inner wrists. It also takes the pressure off performance, which helps anyone who feels rushed or disconnected during sex. Many couples find it shakes up their routine and makes talking about touch much easier.
