Toys & Props – What does Armbinder mean?
Armbinder
An armbinder is a tapered sleeve, usually leather or latex, that holds both arms together behind the back from hands to upper arms, used in bondage for strict, elegant restraint.
What does Armbinder mean?
Armbinder simply describes what it does: it binds the arms. It’s a long, triangular sleeve that both arms slide into behind the back, laced or zipped tight and held in place by straps over the shoulders. It’s also called a single glove or monoglove. Armbinders are popular for their look, a straight back and pushed-out chest, and for the helpless feeling of having both arms out of action at once. They’re common in fetish photography and longer scenes.
Is an armbinder safe?
It needs care, because it puts real strain on the shoulders. Your elbows don’t have to touch, and forcing them together can hurt joints and nerves. Start loose, and tighten only as far as the wearer is comfortable. Watch for tingling, numbness, cold hands or a weak grip, which point to pressed nerves or poor circulation. Then open it at once. With both arms tied, the wearer can’t catch a fall, so stay close, keep them off stairs and have safety shears nearby.
Who is an armbinder good for?
People with flexible shoulders tend to enjoy it most. If you can comfortably clasp your hands behind your back, you’ll probably manage. With stiff shoulders or past injuries, a looser fit or wrist cuffs are kinder. Try short sessions of 10 to 15 minutes first and loosen up the shoulders beforehand. Afterwards, bring the arms forward slowly and gently stretch them, since shoulders can feel stiff for a while.
