Relationship Styles – What does Soft Launch & Hard Launch mean?
Soft Launch & Hard Launch
Soft launch and hard launch describe how you reveal a new partner online, either by only hinting at them or by showing them openly with face and name.
What does Soft Launch & Hard Launch mean?
Both terms come from marketing, where a soft launch is a quiet release to a small audience and a hard launch is the big public one. On social media, they describe how you reveal a new partner, either by only hinting at them or by showing them openly. A soft launch is a hand on the table, a second glass in the dinner photo or a shoulder at the edge of the frame. A hard launch is their face, their name and a tag, sometimes with a caption that leaves no doubt.
Why do people soft launch a relationship?
Mostly to keep things private while it’s still new. A soft launch lets you share your happiness without inviting questions, comments from exes or awkward explanations if it ends. It’s also a playful teaser for friends who know how to read the clues. Some people simply never hard launch, and that’s fine too.
When should you hard launch a relationship?
When you both want to, and not before. Some people are happy to go public in week two, others keep their private life private for good, because of jobs, family or past experiences. Talk about it before you post: what’s okay to share, can you tag each other, are faces okay? Agreeing on digital boundaries saves you a lot of arguing later.
