Kink Talk – What does Kinktober mean?
Kinktober
Kinktober is an online challenge every October in which artists, writers and kinksters create or share one piece of kink-themed content per day, usually following a list of 31 prompts.
What does Kinktober mean?
Kinktober blends “kink” and “October” and is a spicy spin on Inktober, a drawing challenge started by artist Jake Parker in 2009 where people post one ink drawing a day all October. Kinktober keeps the daily rhythm but swaps in kink themes. Each year, artists and communities publish prompt lists with one theme per day, like bondage, praise, latex or pet play. People draw, write short fiction, take photos or just discuss the prompt of the day.
How do you take part in Kinktober?
Pick a prompt list or make your own, and decide how much you want to do. Nobody checks, so skipping days or doing just a few prompts is completely fine. Tag everything clearly as NSFW and post only where adult content is allowed. If you share photos of real people, everyone pictured has to agree. Respect platform rules so your account doesn’t get flagged.
Can couples do Kinktober together?
Yes, and it’s a fun way to explore. Use the daily prompt as a conversation starter instead of a to-do list. Each day, share whether a theme is a yes, maybe or no for you, what it brings to mind and whether you’d like to try it. Anything you want to act out gets negotiated first, with limits and a safeword, and it’s fine if most prompts stay just talk.
