Sex Positions – What does Lap Position mean?
Lap Position
Lap Position is a face-to-face sex position where one partner sits upright on a bed, sofa or seat and the other sits astride their lap, wrapped around them.
What does Lap Position mean?
It’s exactly what it sounds like: one partner sits, the other sits on their lap facing them. The sitting partner can be on a bed with legs stretched out, on the edge of a sofa or in a car seat, and the partner on top straddles them. It’s close to the lotus position, but less formal: no cross-legged posture, no flexibility needed. You’re chest to chest, can kiss and hold each other, and the partner on top controls the movement.
How do you do the Lap Position?
The bottom partner sits upright, back against a headboard, wall or sofa back for support. The top partner climbs on, knees on either side of their hips or feet on the floor, and lowers down slowly. Move by rocking and grinding rather than bouncing. Wrap your arms around each other for closeness and stability. A pillow behind the sitting partner’s back makes longer sessions comfortable. In a car, push the seat back as far as it goes and recline it slightly.
Who is the Lap Position good for?
It’s ideal for beginners and anyone who wants intimacy: simple, slow and very close. Height differences matter less, since sitting brings your faces level. During pregnancy, it keeps pressure off the belly and lets the pregnant partner on top set the depth, as long as the bump leaves enough room. It also works for quickies, on the sofa or in a parked car. In a car, choose a truly private spot, because sex where others can see you can get you into legal trouble in Germany.
