Kink Talk – What does Safe Call mean?
Safe Call
A safe call is a safety plan where a trusted friend knows where you are and who you’re meeting, and expects you to check in at agreed times.
What does Safe Call mean?
Safe call is a term from kink and online-dating safety practice, where meeting people from the internet is common. It means a trusted friend knows where you are and who you’re meeting, and expects a check-in from you at agreed times. It’s most common for first dates and first play sessions with someone new. Many kink communities see it as a basic precaution, and an experienced partner won’t mind that you have one.
How do you set up a safe call?
Give your friend the address, your date’s name, profile and photo, and how you’re getting there and back. Agree on check-in times, for example on arrival, after an hour and when you leave. Pick a harmless code word that means “call me with an emergency so I can leave”. And decide ahead of time what your friend does if you don’t check in, like calling you, coming by or contacting the police.
Why should you use a safe call?
Because even with careful vetting, you can’t fully know someone from chats and photos. A safe call means someone notices quickly if something goes wrong, and it gives you an easy way out if the vibe feels off. You can mention it openly, a respectful date will see it as normal. Anyone who gets angry about it is showing you a red flag.
