Kink Talk – What does Premature Ejaculation mean?
Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation means ejaculating sooner than you or your partner would like, often within a minute or two of penetration, in a way that regularly causes frustration or distress.
What does Premature Ejaculation mean?
Premature means too early, and ejaculation is the release of semen. Doctors often use about 1 minute after penetration as a guide for lifelong premature ejaculation, but what matters most is whether you can influence it and whether it bothers you. It’s one of the most common sexual concerns of people with a penis. Studies put the average time from penetration to ejaculation at around 5 minutes, much shorter than porn suggests. Coming fast now and then, for example when very excited, is completely normal.
How can you last longer in bed?
Try the stop-start technique: stop stimulation just before the point of no return, wait until the urge fades, then continue. The squeeze technique adds firm pressure just below the head of the penis. Both work best when you practise solo first. Pelvic floor training, slower breathing and switching positions also help, and thicker condoms reduce sensation a little. And remember that sex doesn’t have to end with ejaculation: hands, mouths and toys can keep going.
When should you see a doctor about premature ejaculation?
If it happens most of the time, causes stress or strains your relationship. A doctor or urologist can check for physical causes like prostate inflammation or thyroid problems. There are effective treatments, from numbing creams to medication and sex therapy. Anxiety often makes things worse, so the earlier you get support, the easier it gets.
