Kinks & Fetishes – What does Oil Play mean?
Oil Play
Oil play is using massage or body oil to make skin warm and slippery, turning touch, massage and sex into something smoother and more sensual.
What does Oil Play mean?
Oil play is a plain descriptive name, oil plus “play”, used in kink and sex-positive circles for any scene built around slick, oiled skin. It means using massage or body oil for slippery, warm, sensual touch. For some it’s a long sensual massage, for others it’s about the look and feel of glistening bodies sliding together. Some people even have a fetish for shiny, oiled skin itself.
Can you use oil with condoms?
Not with latex. Oil weakens latex condoms and makes them more likely to break. If you use condoms, keep the oil for massage and switch to a water-based or silicone lube for sex, or use polyurethane condoms. Oil can also upset the natural balance inside the vagina for some people, so it’s best kept on the outside of the body.
How do you set up oil play?
Protect your bed first. Oil stains, so lay down an old sheet, towels or a waterproof cover. Warm the oil in your hands or stand the bottle in warm water, and pick a skin-friendly plant oil, keeping nut allergies in mind with oils like almond. Put a towel by the shower, because oiled feet on tiles are slippery. Not sure your partner is into it? Oil Play only shows up as a match in the Consent Check if you both said yes.
