Orientations & Identities – What does bisexual mean?
Bisexual
Bisexual means being attracted to more than one gender. Not necessarily 50/50, not necessarily at the same time, and not necessarily in the same way.
What does bisexual mean?
Bisexual comes from the Latin “bi”, meaning two. Bisexual means being attracted to more than one gender. Not necessarily 50/50, not necessarily at the same time, and not necessarily in the same way. Today bi is understood as more than one gender, not just two. Most bi people have a lean, and it can shift over time.
What’s the difference between bisexual and pansexual?
They overlap a lot. Bisexual means attraction to more than one gender, pansexual means attraction regardless of gender. Many people use whichever word feels better, and some use both. Neither is more open or more modern than the other.
How do I know if I’m bisexual?
If you’ve felt attraction, crushes or fantasies towards more than one gender, bi might fit. You don’t need equal interest, experience with every gender or a certain number of partners. A relationship doesn’t change it either. Being with one person shows who you chose, not everyone you could be into.
