Kinks & Fetishes – What does Hogtie mean?
Hogtie
A Hogtie is a bondage position where the wrists and ankles are tied together behind the back, usually with the bound partner lying face down and almost unable to move.
What does Hogtie mean?
Hogtie comes from farming, where pigs and calves had their legs tied together so they couldn’t run. In bondage it means tying the wrists and ankles together behind the back, usually with the bound partner lying on their front. It’s one of the most helpless positions there is, which is exactly the appeal for many. It’s a classic of bondage imagery, but an advanced position, not a beginner tie.
Is a hogtie dangerous?
It carries real risks and needs care. Lying face down with the arms pulled back makes breathing harder, especially with weight on the back or chest, a danger called positional asphyxia. Rope pulling hard on the wrists can damage nerves, and the shoulders take a lot of strain. Keep sessions short, never press down on the bound partner, don’t combine it with gags or anything around the neck, and never leave them alone. Keep safety shears within reach and untie right away at numbness, tingling or trouble breathing.
How do you do a safer hogtie?
Cuff wrists and ankles first with wide, padded restraints, then link them with a strap or rope that leaves plenty of slack. A loose connection lets the bound partner lie flat and breathe freely while still feeling trapped. Lying on the side is easier on the chest than lying on the front. Check in often, keep a safeword, and ask them to squeeze your fingers now and then to test circulation.
