Kink Talk – What does Pink Flag mean?
Pink Flag
A pink flag is a minor warning sign in dating or a relationship, a habit or trait worth noticing and talking about, but not serious enough to count as a red flag.
What does Pink Flag mean?
Pink flag is dating slang that grew out of “red flag” and “green flag” on social media. Pink is a softer red: something feels a little off, but it isn’t a dealbreaker. A pink flag is a minor warning sign worth keeping an eye on. Examples: they’re always late, they talk about their ex a lot, they rarely ask you questions or they get oddly defensive about small things. On its own it says little, but it might grow into something bigger.
What’s the difference between pink, red and beige flags?
A red flag is a serious warning sign: control, disrespect, lying, ignoring boundaries. A green flag is a good sign. A beige flag is just a quirk that’s neither good nor bad. A pink flag sits between beige and red. It’s worth noticing because a pattern of pink flags, or one that doesn’t change after you’ve talked about it, can turn red.
What should you do about a pink flag?
Bring it up early and calmly. “I’ve noticed you often cancel last minute. What’s going on?” Their reaction tells you a lot. If they listen and change, great. If they brush it off or it keeps happening, take it seriously. Trust your gut, especially when pink flags start piling up.
