Toys & Props – What does Ring Gag mean?
Ring Gag
A ring gag is a gag with a metal or padded ring that sits behind the teeth and holds the mouth open, fastened with a strap behind the head.
What does Ring Gag mean?
Ring gag is named after its ring, often an O-ring, which is why it’s also called an O-ring gag. It’s a gag that holds the mouth open with a ring behind the teeth, fastened by a strap around the head. Unlike most gags, it doesn’t fill the mouth, it keeps it open. People like it for the feeling of exposure and helplessness, as part of degradation play, or simply for the messy, drooling look. Speaking becomes almost impossible, which is part of the appeal.
How do you use a ring gag safely?
Agree on a non-verbal safe word first, because talking won’t work. Good options are a hum pattern, snapping fingers or dropping a small object held in the hand. Keep sessions short, since the jaw tires fast and can ache afterwards. Never leave anyone alone while gagged, and skip it with a blocked nose or nausea. Take it off right away if breathing feels hard.
What’s the difference between a ring gag and a ball gag?
A ball gag fills the mouth with a ball, while a ring gag holds it open with a hollow ring. Both muffle speech and both make you drool, which is completely normal, so keep a towel nearby. The ring gag usually feels more exposing and strains the jaw a bit more, because the mouth stays wide open. A ball gag feels more like being silenced.
