Kink Talk – What does NTR mean?
NTR
NTR is short for netorare, a Japanese manga and anime genre in which a character’s partner is “stolen” by someone else, with jealousy and heartbreak as the focus.
What does NTR mean?
NTR is short for the Japanese word netorare, which roughly means “being taken away” and refers to having your partner seduced by someone else. It names a genre of manga, anime and adult fiction in which a character’s partner is “stolen” by a rival. The stories are about adults, and the emotional punch is the point, with betrayal, jealousy and loss at the center. Related terms are netori, told from the side of the one who does the stealing, and netorase, where the partner allows it.
What’s the difference between NTR and cuckolding?
They overlap, but the feeling is different. In cuckolding, the watching partner usually agrees and enjoys it, and it’s often a shared turn-on. In NTR, the jealousy and heartbreak are the point. The story is built around betrayal and loss, not shared enjoyment. That’s why NTR stays mostly a fiction genre, while cuckolding is something some couples actually practise with consent.
Is it normal to enjoy NTR?
Yes. Enjoying intense emotions in fiction is common, the same way people love tragic films or horror. Liking NTR stories doesn’t mean you want to be cheated on or to cheat. If you ever want to explore similar feelings with a real partner, talk it through first, agree on clear limits and make sure the jealousy stays a game you both chose.
