Toys & Props – What does Violet Wand mean?
Violet Wand
A violet wand is a handheld electro toy that produces high-voltage, low-current electricity through a glowing glass electrode, giving tingling sensations and small visible sparks wherever it nears the skin.
What does Violet Wand mean?
The violet wand goes back to the “violet ray”, a device sold in the early 1900s as a cure-all, which it wasn’t. Its gas-filled glass electrodes glow when switched on, often in violet, hence the name. Today it’s a toy for electrical sensation play. When the electrode comes close to the skin, the charge jumps across in tiny crackling sparks that feel like anything from a soft fizz to a sharp sting. Partners can even pass the charge through their own body, so a touch, a kiss or a fingertip sparks too.
Is a violet wand safe?
It’s considered one of the gentler forms of electro play, because the current mostly stays near the skin’s surface. Still, keep it away from the eyes, face and head, and away from broken skin. Skip it entirely with a pacemaker or other implanted electronics, a heart condition or epilepsy. Sparks can ignite alcohol, so never use it after alcohol-based sanitizer or near flammable oils. Take off metal jewelry and avoid touching metal furniture.
How do you start with a violet wand?
Begin on the lowest setting with the mushroom electrode, which spreads the sensation, on fleshy areas like the back, thighs or buttocks. Hold it slightly away from the skin for sparks, or in contact for a smoother buzz. Go slowly and check in, since sharper electrodes and higher settings sting fast. Agree on a safeword, and dim the lights, because seeing the sparks is half the thrill.
