Kinks & Fetishes – What does Coregasm mean?
Coregasm
A Coregasm is an orgasm triggered by exercise, especially moves that work the core like leg raises, climbing or pull-ups, usually without any sexual thoughts or touch involved.
What does Coregasm mean?
Coregasm blends “core”, the deep abdominal and trunk muscles, and “orgasm”. It describes an orgasm, or strong sexual pleasure, that happens during exercise, most often during moves that work the core, without fantasizing or touching. It became widely known through an online survey by Debby Herbenick’s team at Indiana University, which made headlines in 2012. Women reported it from abdominal exercises, climbing ropes or poles, pull-ups, weightlifting, cycling and other workouts. Later surveys found it in men too.
Why can exercise cause an orgasm?
Researchers don’t know for sure. One idea is that tiring the core and pelvic floor muscles sets off some of the same reflexes involved in orgasm. Breathing patterns and blood flow to the pelvis may play a role too. It usually isn’t driven by sexual arousal. Most people in the studies weren’t thinking about sex at all when it happened.
Is a coregasm normal?
Yes, it’s normal and harmless. It can be a nice surprise or feel awkward in the middle of a gym, and both reactions are fine. If it feels unwanted, switching exercises or taking a short break usually helps. If you enjoy it, there’s nothing wrong with that either. It says nothing about your sexuality or about secret feelings for the person you train with.
