BDSM Roles – What does Little mean?
Little
A Little is an adult who enjoys slipping into a playful, carefree and cared-for headspace within a caregiver dynamic, often called CGL, which can be completely non-sexual or part of adult D/s.
What does Little mean?
Little is a role name from the Caregiver and Little community, CGL for short. A Little is an adult who enjoys a playful, carefree headspace, often called little space, while a trusted Caregiver looks after them. Little space can mean coloring, cartoons, a favorite plushie or simply letting someone else decide for a while. Many CGL dynamics are completely non-sexual and about comfort and stress relief. Others are part of a sexual D/s relationship between consenting adults.
What do DDlg and MDlb stand for?
They’re abbreviations for the pairing in a caregiver dynamic. DDlg means Daddy Dom and little girl, MDlb means Mommy Dom and little boy, and mixes like MDlg or DDlb exist too. The capital letters mark the Caregiver, the lowercase “l” marks the Little. “Little girl” and “little boy” are simply role names that consenting adults choose for their dynamic. Many prefer the gender-neutral CGL, because it fits any gender and any pairing.
How does a healthy CGL dynamic work?
It runs on trust and clear agreements. Talk beforehand about rules, rewards, what little space looks like for you and whether anything sexual is part of it at all. Rules might be going to sleep on time, drinking enough water or checking in by text, with rewards like praise, a favorite snack or extra cuddle time. The Little can step out of the role at any time, and a safe word works here like anywhere else.
